review 1: A small town cozy about a Charlestown veterinary pathologist who returns to the small Vermont town of his early childhood to take over the desperately struggling veterinary clinic he's inherited from his estranged father. He's terrible with people and actually not so great with live animals either, he's only had to deal with dead ones, but the small town and its sometimes overdrawn quirky characters just might revive his dormant joie de vivre. Good for your animal lover and cozy fan, not great. It does have a golden named Frieda Fuzzypaws, so there is that.
review 2: I picked this up because I was approved for the second book in the series, Dog Gone, Back Soon through NetGalley. No way could I start a series mid-stream, ya know?! It started a little slow for me
... more, but after awhile I found myself rooting for & laughing at/with the characters. Had I not been approved for the other book, I don't think this would have come onto my radar, but I'm glad it did. I enjoyed Trout's writing style & loved all the personality he put into the animals & people alike. I'm looking forward to reading the next book in the series. = ) less

I didn't think I was going to like this book, but it was full of humor and a book of forgiveness .

It was a fun, quick book to read. Predictably cheesy but there were dogs in it and I love dogs.

bit of a slow burn and a few confusing bits but still a lovely story

Endearing, but a tad predictable.
