review 1: Grimes' work always rings true to the experiences of African-American children living in cities, and Make Way for Dyamonde Daniel is no exception. Transitional fiction is especially lacking in diverse, compelling characters, making this series a welcome addition to any library. The story of a new girl in town needing to navigate the social waters of a new school is one to which many kids will be able to relate.
review 2: Dyamonde is an energetic third grader who moves to a new school and misses her old best friend.
