Donny Hathaway was an American jazz musician. Donny Hathaway suffered from severe mental illness. His depression and paranoid schizophrenia lead to hospitalisations.
In 1979 Donny Hathaway was fount death on the walkway under the window of his fifteenth floor room in the Essex House Hotel. It was reported that he had jumped off the balcony of his room.
