review 1: External Pleasure is a quick read. the plot is easy to follow which makes it a fun book to read. I liked the concept of the Gods of the Night bing two natured: human and dinosaur. I found myself googling the names of the dinosaurs seeking a picture of what they looked like. The characters were likeable. I hated the fact Kelly had to carry her flute around with her throughout the book. i didn't like how the enemy was defeated. Playing your heart's melody...thought that concept was a little lame.
review 2: This is truly awful. I can't believe people are giving it 5 stars. What exactly have they been reading that makes this seem so good? Primal dinosaurs trapped into human male bodies? Fight for humanity against some sort of intergalactic chaos lords? Of c... moreourse, vampires and werewolves are thrown in for fun. Let's not forget the demons and Mayan apocalypse. Or the sorcerer. Really? The only thing this was missing was zombies. I should have liked this. Who doesn't like T-Rex and the number eleven? But the over-the-top alpha-male predator posturing was ridiculous. Painful, really. And we can't forget the clueless female who finds that sort of behavior attractive. I rolled my eyes so many times, I think I strained something. I read this because it was included in the Vaginal Fantasy book club. I'm beginning to think I'm just not into vaginal fantasy. Is it always cheesy bodice-ripper romance with supernatural elements thrown in? Are the lead females always young, beautiful, and unknowingly possessed of their own special power? Are the lead males always dangerous predators who start off as jerks(oh, but they're sooo sexy!)?Finally, what's with the cover art? Is the guy supposed to be Mr. Hot T-Rex? Or maybe Mr. Cold as Ice Fin? His expression leads me to believe he's in pain after having read this book. Just like me. less
