review 1: Wow, what a let down... not so much the book itself, but when looking at the book list it showed only three in the Gods of the Night series, so I thought, maybe it'll all be wrapped up in this book, as we are way past 21-12-12... of course it being fantasy it wouldn't matter too much, but then again, to catch up with eight or nine books to couple up the remaining GONs after the actual fact and tell us how this series ends... too bad, because this series started with a great idea, an interesting concept and was written by a capable author. But hey, if you are for open endings and you just wanna fill in the same ending for the next eight books according to how the first three went and in a byline explain what Fin -the GON leader- really is yourself, then this is for you! Mig... moreht as well invent your own series and write it, and if you finish it, I might read it too.How about a shout out to all fans of this series to finish this series for Miss Bangs with some great fan fiction (those are being picked up by the publishers left, right and center -as apparently the author herself couldn't sell the remainder of the series)? Go!!!
review 2: A big step up from the first two. The characters are more fleshed out and many of the more shadowy characters reveal actually interesting back story. Eternal Prey feels like more thought was put into the story telling than in its predecessors, which is a definite plus. Nina Bangs seems to be slowly moving away from the silliness that marked the first book in this series and is beginning to give the reader more to digest with far less laughable dialogue and ridiculous character traits. While I loved the silliness of the first book, I find that I definitely prefer the more dense world-building and character development in Eternal Prey. The silliness is still there to some degree but the books are reading less comic and more fantasy. I'm definitely looking forward tho the rest of the series. less
