review 1: CARMIE'S REVIEW - Sadie is a chef and personal assistant to the stars. Her client, Brock, a professional NBA star just got traded to Houston; she is not following him because her Nonna needs her. Thankfully Sadie's friend, Mindy is an agent and has a client looking for a personal assistant.Enter Heath, Mindy's client, a professional model living up the good life as seen in tabloids. He's in the Hamptons for the summer and is looking for a chef/personal assistant/party planner. From the moment Sadie lays eyes on Heath she knows he is as cocky and wild as the tabloids say he is. If she takes the job with him, she will have to bury her attraction to him deep deep down and as long as he is a Richard to her she won't have a problem. Against her better judgement, she takes... more the job. The first week went pretty quickly because she was knee deep in party planning. After a few too many tequila shots with Heath at the party, they have a huge blowout. Sadie leaves and is driving back to New York when she gets the call that Heath was badly injured in a car accident. Heath broke both legs and an arm and will be laid up for a good length of time. Even though Sadie is pissed at Heath, she mans up and takes care of him.Sadie knows this may be her only chance to learn about the man behind the facade - if there is one. The burning question is whether Heath is just another Gorgeous Rotten Scoundrel or is there more then meets the eye.Nina's wicked sense of humor definitely come through the pages of GRS. Nina sure made Sadie's first night in the house memorable for readers. There are certain parts of GRS that will stick with me for a while - GRS is more than just a funny and flirty read - there is depth to the story. It almost restores your faith in the modeling profession. Definitely one of the best books I have read this year!
review 2: ***Unsolicited Review*** The reason I bought this book was strictly out of curiosity. I was scrolling through Facebook and I saw a post mentioning a reviewer (check the 1-star reviews) was claiming the main character, Sadie, was abusing Heath in a scene in the book. I read the review and thought, "Really?" and decided I would have to read this book for myself. So, I one-clicked and started reading. First, Nina G. Jones can write! I was completely sucked in and couldn't put this book down. My hat is off to you, Ms. Jones. I have never been to NYC, the Hamptons, or to Paris, but your descriptions were wonderful and felt like I was really there! I loved the characters! Sadie is a spit-fire! She is sassy and in the relationship she has with Heath, they banter back and forth and love to argue. It works! It also heats things up between them. He is a man-whore, a top model after all, and he truly lives up to the title of Gorgeous Rotten Scoundrel. Sadie is doing all she can to keep from falling under his charms. She's been hurt before, terribly. I get why she tries to keep him at bay. Heath is intrigued because she doesn't give in to him as easily as other women. She fights him and he fights to get her. As for the scene the other reviewer mentioned as being abusive, it WAS NOT ABUSE! Yes, Sadie has something of an advantage because Heath is in casts from the accident, but they were two consenting adults and considering that situation, she did him a favor! Yes, she felt guilty. After all, she was working for him and he was her boss, but Heath was anything but a helpless victim! I loved the energy of this book, I loved the sweetness of it, and there were parts I cried my eyes out and some parts I laughed out loud (my honey asked me, "What the hell are you reading this time?"). The sex in the book was smoking hot! I also loved the ending. It was perfect! I LOVED THIS BOOK! Thanks for a great read, Nina! I'll be reading more of your books in the future. less
