review 1: This story caught me by surprise. I really enjoyed the writing style of Nina LaCour. This book told the story of a young adult and her love for set designing for a small film production. I was pleasantly surprised by this story line as I don't think I have ever read a story about this subject. The author really made this topic interesting by interweaving a few other storylines among the set designing one. I would recommend this story if you are looking for a nice contemporary read.
review 2: Loved this book. I first saw this book on Penguins First Reads, unfortunately I didn't get chosen to read it, but when I saw it on shelves I immediately purchased it. I was unaware to the fact that it was a lesbian YA and it is the first lesbian YA that I have read. I reall... morey enjoyed how Nina LaCour handled the subject. It wasn't about Emi's coming out or questioning her sexuality. It was about her life and she just happened to be a lesbian. less
