review 1: I used to be utterly blown away and inspired by Chomsky, now the more I read the more I'm constantly reminded how preoccupied, almost obsessed, with his own country of America, occasionally to the detriment of the bigger picture. What he says, I by and large agree strongly with, it just gets pretty old fast when at the same time as lambasting the US for thinking it's the most important country in the world, he spends his entire time putting them straight bang in the middle of his discourse.Personally speaking I find John Pilger's brand of commentary and political discourse far more incendiary and inspirational than Chomsky does any more.In summary, a good read for any on the left of centre in political persuasions but it feels like standard Chomsky by numbers for me persona... morelly. Nothing particularly new to say or insightful take on current events.
review 2: Good ol' Noamy Chomp-Chomp. This was good. Of course, Chompsky often takes his conclusions further than I am comfortable taking them, but it's still interesting. This book actually is a good starter, I think, for people who want to catch up on the last 30-ish years of American foreign policy from a highly critical and skeptical viewpoint. My book was a little outdated, I think it was last updated two years ago (and a lot has happened since then) I wonder what the author would think about the widening gap between the rich and the poor in the US. He touches briefly on it in this book but it has only grown more pervasive since. less

I found this a bit dry for Chomsky, if I am to be honest. But overall its not too bad.

A bit complicated book if you are not used to reading these type of books.
