review 1: What I found to be refreshing about this book was the female main character. I mean it's told using dual POV's....But Penny really stood out to me. She's not really a girly girl. She plays hockey, can smack a puck around, and all the while is devoted to her family. She's a bad-ass in the rink and at the same time a really likeable and relatable character. I don't know if it's just me, but I could totally relate to her loyalty when it has to do with family. At the same time, she's a girl with a bright future, scholarship offers, planning for college, etc. The only downside is that seems that her family is holding her back in a way.Insert Bishop, a superstar drummer forced to spend some time in Alaska to help him get a hold of the substance abuse problem that he's in denial ... moreabout.The way these two come together when neither one is really looking for something more is awesome.Dawn and Perry really write well together and hopefully readers get a chance to read more from them in the future.There are plenty of steamy moments.Some heartfelt ones as well.If you get a chance please check this out!It's a must read!
review 2: Really good! It started out like any other YA romance, the troubled boy and the feisty girl who would save him. But I must say, the story took a turn I didn't expect. The romance was sweet and tentative. But what really got to me was both Penny's and Bishop's relationship with Gramps. And Bishop and Gary. From being A story about first love and young love it became about different kinds of love, trust, acknowledging your own weeknesses, standing up for yourself. Yes, I truly enjoyed this read. less
