review 1: But...but...but where's the rest of it?!?!?!?!? Dang that was good! I just wanted more and more though. I would love to read the rest of Ethan and Fitz's story. I want to know what happens next and how Ethan is going to fight to change things. The epilogue teases at progress made in the year since the met and I want to read all of that story!!!Ethan knows this is his one chance to move past his station, to stop being a lowly serf and at the whim of everyone in the upper class. The winner of the tournament, held once every five years, gets to join the King's army elevating him to on par with the other nobles. His life would change forever. So far he's done well and he only has one more battle to win. Only it's not the man he expected to step into the ring, instead ... moreit's the son of one of the nobles, a man who has no reason to be in the tourney, but Ethan must defeat him to move on anyway.I LOVED the way this was set up and told!!! I really felt this world and connected with Ethan and Fitz! I just want to really get to dive into this world and story with a full novel. It was such a lovely story and sexy at the same time. I've never read anything by this author, but I will definitely look for more!!! FANTASTIC!!! Pushed all my "love it" buttons!
review 2: This is a story about mud wrestling. The end.(Seriously though. I was all "aww yeah", and it *is* kind of hot, but more or less pointless, since the story didn't go anywhere. The HEA felt tacked on to me, the issues raised in the worldbuiling at the beginning were just waved aside in the end - maybe it would have been better to ignore the greater implications and just own the porn without trying to build a castle out of mud.)I seem to be alone in this, but it didn't really work for me. less
