review 1: Typically, I do not take notes while I read. Every now and then, I find a book which interests me on a certain level where I may underline a passage or dog-ear a page for future reference. Orrin Woodward's "Resolved" is an exception. I took my time reading this book. I did not read through it quickly, in fact it took me several weeks to finish. I had to put it down, sometimes in mid-chapter, so I could think about his words and take notes in the margins and/or the blank pages in the back of the book. Laborious? Yes it is and I am happy that it is...the book made me think in a profound way and I am stronger because of the knowledge gained. If you want a quick and easy book to read...or if you want to be entertained in a shallow way...or if you do not wish to grow personally ... morebecause you are perfect right now or you are just happy in your mediocrity, then do not read this book. However, if you want to have your mind challenged in ways which will create thinking about little things like; what your Purpose in life Is, how you might better your relationships, achieving goals, create control over your finances instead of your finances controlling you, becoming a Leader on any level, becoming truly Free and living your own life in a positive and loving way, helping all around you...then definitely buy this book.I actually thought about only giving "Resolved: 13 Resolutions for Life" 4 stars just to offset the high quantity of 5 star reviews. But, this book just happens to be one of the best books I have ever read and to give it any less than 5, I would be sacrificing my Truth...something I will not do any longer for anyone. Most of my reviews of books are 5 stars because those are the books which affect me the most...the others, I just put down and go onto the next. This book I will read again and study in greater depth.Challenge yourself to grow...to remain positive...and to become a force for good. This is a "must read".
review 2: When I first picked up this book, I never realized what it meant to make a resolution. I had spent many New Years making resolutions only to break them sometime Mid-January and then not thinking anything of it until the next year.Great historical leaders like George Washington and Ben Franklin made resolutions to improve themselves and continually worked on them. If we want to improve our lives, shouldn't we follow the example of those who exemplified what honor and leadership meant? The book outlines 13 resolutions which if applied, can have a tremendous impact on your life. For those who want a better life, I highly recommend you start with this book. less
