review 1: This is a very heavy socio political drama that challenges taboos. The story is somewhat bland at times because there is so much that we as Americans are unfamiliar with since they were things that occurred in Japan post war that we never learned about. The story spans almost 3 decades and is a real page turner. The end fell flat for me since it ended so abruptly leaving many questions unanswered, but I would almost prefer it this way since now the story's loose ends allow the story to continue in my head.
review 2: Saya tertarik untuk membaca graphic novel ini karena nama besar Ozamu Tezuka. Saya pertama kali berkenalan dengan karya beliau sejak Astro Boy ketika masih duduk di bangku sekolah dasar. Pertama kali membacanya saya merasa shock, seperti berhadapan... more dengan sisi gelap dari Tezuka. Tidak seperti Astro Boy yang digambarkan sebagai komik anak-anak yang riang dan cerita, novel Ayako ini dibuat untuk audien yang lebih dewasa, topik yang diangkat pun lebih gelap seperti pembunuhan dan incest. Bagaimana mungkin master Tezuka membuat novel seperti ini.. this is the dark side of Ozamu Tezuka. Enjoy! less
