review 1: I've been open to the possibility of starting a business for a while now, and even though I don't live in a cubicle or even have a regular day job, I found this to be a good read for anybody dreaming of working for themselves. If you haven't read anything else on the subject, this is a good introduction. It starts with the dreams and guides you through the planning, development, and execution stages of entrepreneurship. While its layout makes for a good reference book, it does try a bit too hard to have something for everyone. I wasn't particularly interested in the chapter about finding health insurance, because I'm not even past the conceptualization yet. I would have been more interested had it been covered in a different book (which, like the author said, it had). Whi... morele the book gives you a good look at each step, I'd recommend reading other, more in depth books on the subjects before actually starting a business. But this book has given me a lot of good ideas and a good road map. I'd recommend it to anyone seriously considering getting out of the cubicle.
review 2: Pamela Slim confronts the idea of fear in leaving your job head on in the first paragraph and gives you practical ways to overcome it.  I think this is the step that many books leave out (or spend too much time on).Just like Goldilocks & the 3 bears, Pam gets her book just right.I particularly loved the point that when you’re doing something you’re forcing yourself to do, your energy depletes but when you’re doing something you love, you’re renewing your energy at the same time as working – what an interesting idea to note…  There’s even some great ideas about creating your business plan but where Pamela excels is looking at the holistic picture of starting a new business – thanks Pamela, I feel inspired! less

Pass. It tries to be a motivational book as well as a checklist. Succeeds in being neither.

Not that applicable for me. If you are stuck in a cubicle and not happy, worth a read.
