review 1: Book two of the #xmasbooktubeathon complete. This book was a bit of a disappointment. I'm not really sure what I was expecting but it was not what I read. This book was confusing at times with the timeline and the characters seemed incredibly flat to me. I wanted to really love this book with the math and the wonderful descriptions of prime numbers. Those parts of the book were great. But when it came down to it, I don't know what the point of this book was. Alice and Mattia were cute together but their lives went different ways. And the end was just so open, it was frustrating. I have not idea what comes of Alice and Mattia and their relationship.
review 2: I did not think this was a good book. It felt like the author had an idea and then tried to prove his poi
... morent by shoving characters into his idea. What resulted was unbelievable characters who the reader could feel no empathy for. He also tried to introduce some very profound issues without any real understanding of those issues. I kept waiting for a transformation, to feel something for these two dimensional foils and for them to become real to the reader. Over halfway through, I realized it was just the same dull point and unrealistic characters over and over. I'm not sure why this book got so much press. Perhaps the author will write a good book someday, but this wasn't it. less

The tittle may scare me away a little, but then as I read on, I realize that the book is much deeper, darker. It touches the reality of young people, they fear and they hide and they feel lonely and they tumble to dead ends. Some may find the characters (Alice and Mattia) flat and unlikable, but I find them (and their parents) very real, their scarred hearts made them recoil and hide away. Sometimes I just want them to find some happiness when they decide to act spontaneously, but they retreat almost immediately to their shells, denying their chances. The book tells stories of lonely people, and at this time, I feel like loneliness may become a world plague.

Saludos!
