review 1: Good book about the life of John Wooden, how his life was shaped by his father, Joshua Wooden and the seven-point creed given to him on his twelfth birthday. John Wooden went on to live out these seven principles for the rest of his life and passed them along to many along the way.Seven Life Principles:1. Be true to yourself.2. Help others.3. Make each day your masterpiece.4. Drink deeply from good books, especially the Bible.5. Make friendship a fine art.6. Build a shelter against a rainy day by the life you live.7. Pray for guidance and counsel, and give thanks for your blessings each day.I plan on giving this book to all of my children to read.
review 2: Borrowed this from the library...so good that I need to buy it. Wooden was a truly inspiring person, no... moret as a basketball coach, but as a role model for how to live a good life. These principles really showcase his approach and encapsulate a formula for how to do it. Even the religious elements, which don't often work for me, make sense in the bigger picture of his mindset. Even if I don't do much with praying for guidance, I can certainly get behind giving thanks and being grateful. Highly recommended. less
