review 1: This is a very cute book about a little girl who has a friend squash. I really liked it because I remember drawing a faces an rocks, water balloons, and bouncy balls and packing them around in the same way. I loved the way the author portrayed the creativity of children. I especially love the ending for the book when her squash grows and she gets two more friends. I would love to add this one to my collection. review 2: Sophie's Squash is an absolutely delight! Pat Zietlow Miller's story and Anne Wilsdorf's illustrations blend beautifully to tell the story of a cute eccentric, strong-willed little girl. The story line is original, well paced and has a great unexpectedly ending. I loved Wilsdorf's colorful illustrations which brought Sophie and her family to li... morefe. Her ability to communicate Sophie's emotions with a few brush strokes were amazing. My only disappointment is that the only male in the story is Sophie's father and thus this great story may not be accepted by boys. Adults will find this story to be a great jumping off point to discuss love, friendship, adaptability and resilience. less
