review 1: I enjoyed this historical western romance more than I had expected. Some of the romantic tension was eased pretty early on, but it left lots of room for charter growth and tension in other areas. This left it feeling a bit less formulaic than some romances which I enjoyed. I'm still enjoy the mountain settings more than Texas, but the multi-cultural aspects of this story were very compelling. I'll definitely be continuing this series and exploring this author in the future.
review 2: Patricia Rice, $.99 *** A cut above the average period romance. In Texas, in the days leading up to the Battle of the Alamo, a rancher disappears, leaving his young wife and son behind. The young widow is determined to run the ranch herself, but is hampered by the unwillingness of
... moreher hands to work for a woman. Her only solution is to hire a foreman. Terrific, well-developed and interesting characters, good plot, lots of historical detail. less

I was alright, I guess not my type of book. It took me months to finish reading.
