review 1: Callum Harris has barely survived going over Crystal Falls. Everyone at the hospital seems to hate him and his best friend tries to smother him. When his mother drives him home after his hospital stay, he doesn't recognize Main Street. His older brother is a quadriplegic who can't even breathe on his own and his own dog hates him. What is going on? As Callum tries to navigate his way through this strange world, he meets himself and doesn't like that person. It seems that Callum has traveled to an alternate universe through the falls. In this world, Callum Harris is a thief, an extortionist, and a murderer. This book was all right. It was an interesting idea about how much can change based on a single decision. Callum's decision to follow his brother on a dangerous watersli... morede when he was 12 years old totally changed his life and made a better future. My problem was that I didn't really like the "better" Callum. If I can't find a character to like, the book doesn't stand a chance. However, I did like his dog.
review 2: I really enjoyed this book! Undercurrent is quite different from a lot of young adult books out there, and I am always looking for something a little different, so to me, this book was near perfect. It's exciting the entire way through and put together in such a way that it keeps you wanting more. I liked that it was able to be creative, what with the ideas of alternate realities and such, without getting too confusing and bogged down. There is still so much that could be explored, so hopefully there will be a sequel. less
