review 1: This book was fine, but nothing outstanding to me, personally. Lots of green things listed, although I would have enjoyed it more had they left out things like green socks and other things that people produce that are green, and just left it at things that occur naturally in nature. For me, the very best line was the last one about how everything is green “except the parts that are blue”, with the illustrations pulled back, showing us the entire globe with all the blue surrounding the green.
review 2: Peggy Gifford, author of the Moxy Maxwell series, turns to mixed media collages to provide clues to identify “What is green?” In lush language and lavish shades of green splashed across every double-paged spread, Gifford explores green flora and fauna,
... moreweather, environments, and more. This would make a fine read-aloud for Earth Day programs. It also lends itself to discussions of the many shades (tones) of color encompassed by the term, “green.” It would pair well with “Green” by Laura Vaccaro Seeger. The book’s ending leads readers to believe that Gifford will soon produce a book called “Blue.” less
