review 1: SO much better than the first book! It still moves too fast with very little character development for my taste. Geez, give these poor creatures a break to let them eat and sleep! There were still gaps that lost me. It might help if there was a chapter change between scenes but she is so anxious to keep the action going that it runs together. I'll keep reading the series now that I'm into it. I just wish that I really cared about these characters... A great book for me is one that makes you feel like you're along for the ride as one of their friends but I still don't know them well enough so I feel like I'm watching some strangers' lives through a crystal ball. We'll see how the next one goes...
review 2: 3.5 starsI have to say, while I liked the original... more cover of the first book much better than the new cover, it's the exact opposite with this one. Just saying.This second installment of the series deals much more with vampires than the first book did. Is that good? I don't know, it depends on your view of vampires. I'll leave that alone now.I LOVED the shifters! {{giant, cheesy grin}} Especially Alec. And I was not the least bit surprised by who the female he scented was. Made me happy.A lot happens here. There was a great battle, and I expected it to be the climax of the book. Then I realized there was still quite a bit left. While the book ended after another, more-emotional-for-Rae battle, it still felt like a bit like the book was being dragged out after the first battle, at least for a little while.Over all I liked it, but I'll admit I thought the first book was better. less
