review 1: If any of you know me (and some of you do), you would be asking out loud "Why is ol' tentoes liking a Smurf book. Well, the answer is that this is the closest Peyo ever got to doing a zombie story featuring the Smurfs. Becoming a Purple Smurf is a reaction to getting bit by the infected. The transformation from blue and smurfy to Purple and 'Gnap' is almost instantaneous. The infection spreads quickly, as Papa Smurf tries to find a cure, but he is running out of time, and fellow smurfs.I am hoping the third movie will follow this plot.
review 2: Like most children of the '80s, I loved the Smurfs cartoon series. The Smurfs have returned in a new CGI animated feature and reprinting of the comics that launched the series in effort to introduce the characters t
... moreo a new audience. (Or, more likely, to get the now adult fans of the original Smurfs to buy blue plastic stuff in fits of nostalgia.) The book was OK--even if Papa Smurf was kind of a jerk in this one. I will say that I am surprised by how closely Hanna-Barbera adhered to the source material. less
