review 1: Magic starts flying (well, not literally, anyway) in this eclectic group of magical tales. From Jim Butcher’s famous Windy City Wizard to a bunch of otherwise nondescript guys and gals that just happen to conjure, Strange Brew is an entertaining and fun ride! Each of the stories is only 30-40 pages, but all seem to really pack in the action and the characterization that is perhaps more difficult than a full-length novel. And they do it well. Recommend, would read again, and discovered some new authors!
review 2: This book fulfills requirement #9~Anthology for the 2014 eclectic reader challenge. There were several decent witch-related short stories in this book edited by P.N.Elrod. A few of the stories included other supernatural beings such as vampires and
... more weres. A few of them also featured characters who are also in novel series.I generally don't care for short stories, but these were pretty good. I'm also not generally interested in supernatural beings other than vampires, but the different takes on the witches were interesting and I found myself enjoying most of the stories. The stories averaged about 40 pages, the longest story was around 60 pages, so it wasn't too hard to read one a day to make things manageable. less
