review 1: Nowhere near as emotional and intense as the film. The sequences added to the book don't really add much to the overall story, and it's obvious why those were cut from the finished film. Artwork is good, if a little inconsistent due to having 3 artists. I felt the writing was serviceable at best, I'm not sure if that has to do with having to adapt Tarantino's screenplay. There were places in the book that were just really clunky, like when the story is obviously going into a flashback and the narration says "He remembers..." I feel like things like that are entirely unnecessary, and really irritate me. Also, I felt it was really rushed in places, and it didn't take the time to let some of the scenes breathe.
review 2: "Django Unchained," the remarkable script
... more penned by the one and only Quentin Tarantino, is a marvel on paper. The script features many scenes of savage and extreme racism not seen within the film itself adding another layer to the story-telling. As well crafted as the film is, the original script adds new dimensions to Samuel L. Jackson's "Stephen" character and adds a new story ark with the character of Broomhilda. The general plot is quite similar to the motion picture experience, but there is enough extra goodies within the script to make it worth a read for any Tarantino fans. For anyone looking into how a script is written look no further than "Django Unchained." less
