review 1: I loved it. It was a bit slow and after so long of waiting, yes, I did have to take my moments of remembering who was who and what connection was to what, but damn the amount that the characters grow and evolve, and all the new ones that rise, it was fantastic. Things I thought "Naw, that can't be right." Suddenly were thrown into the light and that ending, oh my. -purposely not giving anything away-
review 2: 4.5 stars. I'll limit myself to praise that does not contain spoilers. This is a glory of a book. The world-building is as wonderful as in the first and it was such fun to explore beyond Goredd with Seraphina. The characters are memorable & elicit strong reactions. How could I not love a book populated with such fascinating people, and dragons, and music,
... more and philosophy, and political intrigue, with so many of my favorite words (detritus, sanguine, phalanx, distillate, and more) delighting me in every chapter? I recommend savoring Seraphina (book #1) slowly before Shadow Scale comes out in March. less
