review 1: This just reminded me of how much I loved Seraphina. This is only 19 pages, but it gives a great perspective on Seraphina, Orma, and some of the other characters we know and love from the first novel. The writing style and the voice of the main character are incredibly strong, even in this novella. And I was captivated the whole way through. I cant wait for the second book in the series!
review 2: So, I have a thing about dragons and books. For me, there are only a handful of times when a dragon-centric book has done well for me. Seraphina was an experiment and I have to say that I thought it was a really intriguing take. I loved the world Ms. Hartman has crafted, and thought it was vivid and relatable in a more tangible way. I also really enjoyed how she chose
... more to reveal certain details; for instance, she didn't begin the novel right away by saying that Seraphina was part dragon. Instead, she left clever little hints here and there, and had us do some exploring on our own. I also thought that her characterization of the dragons were different from other adaptions; how a hoarding nature extends from treasure to knowledge, and how the range and intensity of human emotions is too much to handle at some points. I can't wait for the next one; Vive la revolution!Favorite line: "If he hurts you, I'll bite him."Ahh, draconic affection. less

short and sweet but aptly conveyed a lot about the characters.

I'd give it a 3.5 or more if Goodreads allowed it.
