review 1: I really enjoyed this book. It's not what I think of as typical Christian non fiction. The author, in her own words, is a liberated woman who believes in evolution and somehow *GASP* doesn't see that as precluding her also being a Christian. The only reason I didn't give this book five stars is because the premise, and specifically certain parts of the "project" seemed kinda contrived. Ideally, I would give it a four and a half. This book is not for folks who identify as, or have been identified as fundamentalist. Biblical literalists need not apply.
review 2: I enjoyed this book. I laughed out loud a few times (usually regarding interactions with her husband -- they are funny people). Rachel Held Evans shared interesting thoughts on how to be a bett
... moreer person and provided some new insights into the bible, particularly biblical references to women (her discussion of the Proverbs woman whose value is greater than rubies was helpful for me -- I have never enjoyed that scripture). There were a number of things I highlighted and would like to go over again later. Her discussion of justice and charity and relating it to fair trade also made me reassess how I spend my money. Did I buy it: yesWould I read it again: yesWould I recommend it: yes. The book had interesting analyses of how to be a good person as well as interesting insight into the bible and fun stories. less

Brings up interesting thoughts, not a lot of conclusions, though.
