The mostly white, liberal, comfortable, somewhat self satisfied neighborhood reminds me a lot of my own little niche in Baltimore, and this "modest" story uses a matter of fact, journalistic tone to explore huge and a large number of contemporary, major issues, that often hit close to home, often somewhat uncomfortably, in a healthy way. There's even surprise in this entertaining read. less

I liked the book. My only complaint is that it wrapped up too quickly in the end.
