review 1: I unexpectedly like this book. I like how the writer described in details the history and background of cigarette industry in Indonesia. The setting of small town M is pretty convincing, and the mystery of "Who is Jeng Yah" is quite interesting. But one thing I don't really like is the last pages near the ending. The writer seemed a bit too hurry to finish the story. I really hope she would prolong it a little bit. Just so we could have a better sense of what's going on with Soeraja after the 1965 fiasco.
review 2: Bahkan seorang pembenci rokok pun harus menyerah untuk tidak bisa tidak menyukai Gadis Kretek ini. Edan lah. Cerita fiksi yang berpadu apik dengan potongsn-potongan sejarah. Sudah lsma rasanya tak membaca karya yang.... Aah. Bagus. Banget. Saking bag... moreusnya, susah mendeskripsikannya.Dan saya pun penasaran dengan cerita Ratih Kumala lainnya. Saya tahu harus mencari buku siapa setelsh ini. :) less
