review 1: A book that is easy to read, I have flown right trough it. However, for me it missed some depth. The relations of the main character sometimes seem somewhat superficial and rotated mainly about sex. Not that I have a problem with that subject, but it drew away from the story that the author is trying to tell us (that is, the troubles Peter meets on his path through life and the effect this has on his personality and actions). I found it difficult to relate to Peter, or his different partners. A nice enough read, but it doesn't excel in authorship. A true story this extraordinary should have been more amazing in my opinion.
review 2: Ik heb het boek in vier dagen uitgelezen, het is een meeslepend en indrukwekkend levensverhaal. Het is onvoorstelbaar dat één pe... morersoon dit allemaal in zijn leven meemaakt, het gaat over liefde, geloof, seks, oorlog, alles komt aan bod. De schrijfstijl is ook goed, op sommige momenten erg humoristisch, dan weer aangrijpend of juist expliciet seksueel (wat overigens wel degelijk wat toevoegt aan het boek, en niet alleen er in staat voor de verkoopcijfers). Of dit nou echt heeft plaatsgevonden of niet, en wie nou precies de schrijver is, het maakt allemaal niets uit: het is een geweldig boek. less
