review 1: A terrific read. There was no story i didn't like, but a few stand outs - Shared Vision, I Don't Run Boston (which was fantastic - written by someone who volunteers, gives you a different perspective but also made me think about looking at running as a shared journey - brought me to tears), rejoyce We Conquer (very funny!) and All You Need is a Thumb (also very funny). I loved the mini-biogs about each author at the end of their pice etoo.A terrific book; even before you get into the proceeds going to support the Boston victims.
review 2: Wow! What a powerful book! I'm so glad I read it & I feel good that all proceeds from The 27th Mile are being donated to One Fund Boston (for the Boston Marathon bombing victims).I don't consider myself a runner - I've only
... morejust begun dabbling with running by participating in my 1st 5K. But if this book doesn't inspire you to think about running, nothing will. It's a compilation of works (some stories & some poems) from 13 authors who have a connection to running and/or the Boston Marathon. The stories are hopeful, even the ones written by people who were at the finish line of the Boston Marathon when the bombs exploded in 2013.As a MA resident who loves watching the Boston Marathon & cheering for the charity runners, I was extremely moved by the spirit of the writers who will all run marathons or volunteer at them, despite the tragic events of 4/15/13.I highly recommend you buy this book. You won't want to put it down until you've read all the pieces. less
