‘A Nightmare on Elm Street’ Fandom Doc ‘FredHeads’ Gets Poster & Teaser

A Nightmare on Elm Street has been terrifying viewers since the debut of the first franchise film in 1984. Since then, the franchise has created a total of seven franchise title films, a Friday the 13th crossover, a 2010 reboot and numerous documentaries. No matter how terrifying the films may be, fans love Freddy, his legendary one-liners and his gruesome kills. A new fandom documentary, FredHeads, has gotten a poster and a teaser and has launched a crowdfunding campaign to help finish production.

The main focus of FredHeads analyzes how being a fan can change your life. Filmmakers have been traveling the country to speak to fellow fans and filmmakers. Director Paige Troxell credits the Nightmare film franchise for saving her life stating:

“In my darkest times I have turned to Elm Street. It is a survival story, it is my best friend, it is my comfort, and it is my home,” gushes Troxell. “I knew that there were others out there who saw this film for more than just the typical slasher. It is my goal to bring to life each and every story; to show the world that this community stands together, that we are a support team for each other.”

The documentary also includes interviews with franchise alumni Lisa Wilcox, Robert Kurtzman, Tuesday Night, Miko Hughes, Ricky Dean Logan and more.

Venn Pictures and Northgate Pictures have started a campaign via Indiegogo to help raise the remaining funds needed to finish production. Perks for contributing to the campaign include pre-order of the limited edition DVD to ensure backers see the documentary first, t-shirts, pins, posters, soundtracks and one-of-a-kind perks from franchise alumni, including prop replicas signed by Freddy himself, Robert Englund.
