“Imago” by N.R. Walker

Nerdy, introverted genius lepidopterist, Lawson Gale, is an expert on butterflies. He finds himself in a small town in Tasmania on a quest from an old professor to find an elusive species that may or may not even exist.

Local Parks and Wildlife officer, Jack Brighton, is an ordinary guy who loves his life in the sleepy town of Scottsdale. Along with his Border collie dog, Rosemary, his job, and good friends, he has enough to keep from being lonely.

But then he meets Lawson, and he knows he’s met someone special. There’s more to catching butterflies, Jack realises. Sometimes the most elusive creatures wear bowties, and sometimes they can’t be caught at all.

Lawson soon learns there are butterflies he can’t learn about it in books. They exist only in a touch, in a kiss, in a smile. He just has to let go first, so these butterflies can fly.

Imago is the story of finding love, bowties, and butterflies.

Do you need a hug? I know some days, I just want a big warm hug. This story felt like a comforting hug and I adored it. There is so much sweetness and happiness from the beginning to the end, I joyfully soared through the pages. I’m quite pleased to see this is the first book in a series because I could read about these guys all day long.

Jack is a big lug of a guy with a big heart and an even bigger smile. He smiles a lot and so did I. He’s just finished his trip to the city and can’t wait to get back to the peace and quiet of home. Of course, along with his small piece of paradise in the country comes the loneliness of his solitude. He has his best mate, Rosemary, but it’s just the two of them. He is content with his life until he is given a taste of what’s he’s missing, a sexy smartypants wrapped up in a bowtie. Lawson embraces his quirky nerdiness. He is fascinated with his work and from his previous attempts has concluded it’s not worth the time to date. But what if he’s just been with the wrong men until now? Most people don’t ‘get’ him, but Jack instantly understands what makes him tick. It’s too bad his trip is short and time is limited but they might as well make the most of it while he’s there. Flings are exhilarating, but what if this isn’t just a holiday romance? Could they actually be….more?

I think they story flowed well and kept my attention. Their introduction was amusing and set the tone for their polar personalities. Jack is cool, calm and solid. Lawson is a contradiction of himself depending on his environment. He swims against the current and is easily agitated when out of his comfort zone. However, when he is submerged in his work he becomes completely focused and oblivious to his surroundings. I enjoyed how different they are yet entirely compatible. Not only are both Jack and Lawson lovely but I instantly warmed to Jack’s friends. They are all delightful people.

A kind gesture from a stranger turns into a string of epic dates. I found myself as enamored as the guys, loving each perfect date and eagerly anticipating the next. They only have a few days but the certainly make the best of them. I found Jack’s beautiful and vast outdoor office fascinating. I’ve always wanted to visit Australia but now it’s securely added to my bucket list of travels. Walker paints a beautiful and enticing picture and I’m dying to go. I’d love to tell you my favorite date they share but I just can’t decide. They are just so darn cute together.

Swift, sweet and adorable romance without much conflict. If you require angst in your stories, you won’t find it here. Though there is a spike of adrenaline near the end, the flow is quiet and smooth most of the ride.

If happy book hugs are your thing, this is one fantastic and satisfying squeeze. You don’t have to be an outdoor nut to appreciate the beauty of their story. If you want to feel the sun on your face, hop in and better yet, you can even leave your sunscreen at home!
