Hi Everyone
I am so excited. Today is my first ever Book Review post. I am so happy that i found my love for reading again and its all thanks to The Book Case. I used to love reading and i would constantly have a book in my bag or next to my bed. And then it seemed life and work, especially work would get in the way. Now i go out of my way to make time to read, whether its my hours break at work or instead of watching an episode of a TV show i would pick up a book.
I had ordered these 2 books of Raru and waited about a month for the books as they came from the USA. While waiting i think i read about 5 books. As soon as they arrived i dived straight in and didn’t put the books down. I had never read a Kendare Blake book before this.

Mirabella is a fierce elemental, able to spark hungry flames or vicious storms at the snap of her fingers. Katharine is a poisoner, one who can ingest the deadliest poisons without so much as a stomachache. Arsinoe, a naturalist, is said to have the ability to bloom the reddest rose and control the fiercest of lions. But becoming the Queen Crowned isn’t solely a matter of royal birth. Each sister has to fight for it. And it’s not just a game of win or lose…it’s life or death. The night the sisters turn sixteen, the battle begins. The last queen standing gets the crown.

MY REVIEWOk so i don’t want this to be a complete spoiler for someone who hasn’t read the book/s, i want this to encourage someone to pick up this series and read it.
The 1st book started off slow as there were a lot of characters and their adoptive families to get to know and sort but once i got into it there was no stopping me. I love this dark YA fantasy novel. Yes its about 3 Queens but more so about 3 strong and willful young woman.
The to-the-point version is that every generation the current Queen of Fennbirn gives birth triplets, all girls. She then disappears to live her life with her husband – her duty has been fullfilled and the 3 girls are raised by their adoptive families. Each Magic, either to ingest poison without getting sick or dying, make flowers bloom or tame wild animals or finally the magic of the elements, create lightning storms, making the earth quake or control the seas. Once the Queens turned 16 years of ago they have 1 year to try and kill each and the last remaining will become Queen of Fennbirn and start the cycle all over again, but of course this generation is different…..
The Queen i like the least has to be Katharine, the Queen who seems to have suffered the most most at the hands of her adoptive family and has the darkest soul and heart. I’m not the biggest fan of her so called magic as i felt it was the least inportant. So you can eat a poisoned apple and not die, ok is that it? While her sisters can do actual magic.
The Queen i love the most is Arsinoe, she has a heart of gold but has great strength within herself. She hasn’t “discovered” her magic as of yet but that doesn’t stop her from finding a way. I love her best friend as well Jules, they have such a special bond and they give each other such strength.
The Queen that’s just there that i didn’t think much of was Mirabella. She is the strongest of the 3 sisters. She can control fire, summon lightning storms and make the earth quake, her water magic is weaker. She’s the sister you can imagine sitting on the Throne at the end of this.
Some of the families are using the triplets as pawns to gain control and power. Some have good intentions while others want control power even if it means killing anyone who gets in their way. I love that each journey the girls make, helps them find their inner strength, who they are deep down and what they actually want out of this life, a life that has been mapped out for them before they were born.
There are major events that take place in both books, from secrets that have been kept from the sisters all these years, backstabbing, death of enemies, friends and loved ones, betrayal from people you would least expect, heartache, new found friendship, love and a surprising twist.
Who doesn’t want to see the girls join forces, and change the course of history
