5 Bookish TV Shows, Movies to Watch In Autumn

Hello lovely readers!! Since Fall is almost upon us and we will soon be bombarded with pumpkin spice lattes, crunchy leaves, cider mill donuts, bonfires, fuzzy socks, jeans, cozy sweatshirts and Halloween candy aplenty we started thinking about all those bookish movies and TV shows that makes us feel all warm, fuzzy, and fall-like inside.

*Stops typing, puts on overly larger sweater and fuzzy socks, imagines the crisp fall air, and gets into the Autumn-zone* C’mon you know you can’t help but get in the fall-mood too! Ehh? Ehh? Amiright? It’s contagious. Channel your inner Goddess of Fall-ness!

Anywayssss, Autumn, while a great season for reading (what season isn’t) is an even better season for cozying up to watch a good TV series or movie (at least we think so)! We always remember getting excited for all the amazing fall programming when we were younger—what with ABC Family’s (and now Freeform’s) 13 Nights of Halloween and Disney Channel’s Halloween Marathons (is it called Monstober now??), there was never a lack of AWESOME TV and films in the fall months. So, with that being said, we thought it would be a good idea to share with you the bookish—whether that be because they are a screen adaptation of a book or because they just have characters who really relate to the bookworm in all of us—TV shows and films that we love to watch in the fall months!

Gilmore Girls

This first one is a no-brainer. Anyone who likes books and good TV knows and loves Gilmore Girls. It is the epitome of Fall television, and every year, as the leaves start to change, we always find ourselves reaching to turn on this heartwarming favorite!

Outlander

Something about the cold Scottish Highlands, a little time traveling and a touch of ancient pagan magic and beliefs makes Outlander the perfect fall fantasy television series. And who doesn’t love that arresting title sequence and “theme” song?! (If you haven’t heard it, listen to it!) So, if that doesn’t scream fall we don’t know what does!

The Perks of Being a Wallflower

Logan Lerman. Ezra Miller. Emma Watson. Teen angst. New school year. New friends. Football Games. House Parties. Growing up. Need we say more?

The Carrie Diaries

Spunky, young Carrie Bradshaw is what all of us need in our lives at the beginning of a new school year. Also 80s high school drama, high fashion, and New York City don’t hurt the overwhelming fall-feel either.

Twilight

Of course we couldn’t mention Fall movies and TV without giving a shoutout to the old favorite—Twilight. It’s the atmosphere in this movie that really makes it a shoe-in for this list. A new school and new start for Bella really set the Autumn tone in this flick, but it’s the paranormal mystery, ancient Native American folklore and the rainy, gray climate of Forks that really give Twilight all the Fall vibes.

Well that’s all that we have for now guys! What are some of your favorite movies and television series to watch in the Fall? We would love to get some new recommendations!
