5 Glaring Marvel Problems Now That They’ll Introduce the X-Men and Fantastic Four to the MCU

Fans everywhere rejoice when Marvel finally got their rights back from Fox through the Disney-Fox acquisition deal. While we all dream of how Wolverine will finally scratch claws with the Black Panther and how the Fantastic Four can finally have a proper movie with its inevitable second reboot, Marvel still need to plan things through in order to deliver the best way to introduce them into the MCU but what problems are they facing right now?

Note that I myself is not an uber comic book fan and most of these are just practical things I thought as an MCU fan from the beginning, if this has been solved on a previous comic book arc or something then I have no idea that such thing already exists so please stop the rant. Just joking. Now let’s get into the list.

The Quicksilvers… Sorry Marvel but I think Fox beat you on this one

Aaron Taylor-Johnson may have been the MCU’s Quicksilver but it was Evan Peters’ performance on his own version of the character made the hero a household name. It was initially revealed that both Elizabeth Olsen and Aaron Taylor Johnson signed on for a 3 picture movie deal but this was retracted later after Avengers: AoU was released. This maybe was just to cloud the fact that MCU’s Quicksilver won’t make it out alive on his first film.

Now, this thing is of course a no brainer. Johnson’s single Marvel outing barely made a scratch to his career and recasting his role to Evan Peters now that he’s in the MCU is probably better for both parties. To be honest, it’s quite intriguing on how Marvel’s Scarlet Witch and Fox’s Quicksilver will interact with one another now that they’ll see each other face to face.

The Timeline Problem with Mutants and the Fantastic Four Wolverine and Cap may have been war buddies. They just didn’t know it yet.

Of course, there’s this problem with the mutants. The MCU never explored the existence of such race since they do not own the rights to them in the first place. If they’ll just make us believe that they’ve been there all this time, then we’ll enter a timeline continuity hell just like the original X-Men movies had. Same can be said with the Fantastic Four. How will they be introduced? Did they already went to space and already have their powers. Why didn’t they show up on the previous movies? and how come SHIELD hasn’t made contact to any of these characters yet?

Marvel needs to find a creative solution on how can they introduce these characters to the MCU. Only way I can think of right now is Doctor Strange and his infinite realities. Don’t you think?

The Wolverine Replacement Who’ll be the next guy to sheath these claws?

So we’ll stop with the MCU problems and go back to the real world. 2017 marked the final performance of Hugh Jackman for the role of Wolverine. Though he said that he would reconsider the idea of retiring from the character if Marvel is producing an MCU version of him, he quickly rejected the idea on reprising the role on a recent interview. Now that the chance of Hugh reprising the clawed mutant continues to fade day by day, Marvel should probably assemble the casting crew if they want to use Wolverine on a future MCU movie. Of course the main problem is whoever will be chosen to replace Hugh on the role will have a very big shoes to fill in. I pity the poor soul who’ll be chosen though.

The Whole X-Men Class Will their stay be short-lived?

Come to think of it. Marvel also have the same problem with the current roster of X-Men, the newer ones that is. McAvoy, Lawrence and Fassbender already had their contracts expired after X-Men: Apocalypse and for some reason was extended so that they can return on the upcoming X-Men: Dark Phoenix. Meanwhile, Sophie Turner (Jean Grey), Alexandra Shipp (Storm), Tye Sheridan (Cyclops) and Kodi Smit-McPhee (Nightcrawler) just started with their contracts. I can only imagine that Marvel wants their own brand of X-Men to join the MCU so it’s a big glaring question if they want to have these kids around after the Dark Phoenix saga has ended and it’s time to merge the X and Marvel Cinematic Universe together.

The Deadpool Problem We’ll probably never get to see this unicorn again on the movie

Now, we all know that Disney is very protective of their brand and they like to keep it family friendly and Deadpool kinda works the opposite way. Though Disney have already confirmed that Deadpool will stay R-rated, one can only argue that it will still be different from the time Fox is leading the production. We can only wait and see on how things will turn out but so you know, Disney already introduced a PG-13 Deadpool on one of the episode of Ultimate Spider-Man animated series where the character is very reluctant on saying the word “kill” and only referring to it as the “k-word”. The character is still enjoyable of course so I’ll have this to look forward to on Disney’s vision of him.

Honorable Mention: If Josh Brolin survives Infinity War, How can he be both Thanos and Cable at the same time? Lucky dude for playing both characters though.
