review 1: Genevieve has boat a houseboat and is refurbishing it while living on a river. She invites some old friends from London that she used to work with and her new friends she has met while living on the boat. The night of her housewarming party, a body washes up beside the boat. Someone from her past that she knows. As the novel progresses, you learn more about Gen's past and how it all collides with her present. I just started reading Elizabeth Haynes books and have really enjoyed them.
review 2: I liked this book, but wanted to like it a lot more, I wanted Haynes to be the British Gillian Flynn, but Dark Tide isn't as twisty as it wants to be. When I got to the end and saw the author's notes that this book was written during NaNoWriMo, it all made sense. While so
... moreme of it - boat life, dancer life - seems researched, the bad guy plot line just kind of fell short and wrapped up like every cheap crime show, movie or paperback. The characters and plots didn't all entirely make sense and some scenes were rushed. However, the friend who recommended Haynes to me said Human Remains was her favorite so I'm starting that next to give her another try - it did keep me reading one way or another afterall! less

Disappointing. Not nearly as good as a Into the Darkest Corner.
