review 1: From her background I thought this would be a Stella Rimington experience, but no it's far better, with a decent plot and plausible enough characters. It doesn't quite express the anguish of it's cast as it tries to, but it has a decent bash and takes us through some hellish situations of widowerhood and accusations of sexual assault rather than a stabfest. Good work situations too, looking forwards to reading more.
review 2: Good mystery read. Probably more 3.5 stars for me than 4 but I'm feeling generous. :) One plot point just stretches the bounds of credulity/coincidence too much (for those who have read: Jimmy), but otherwise a nicely paced, interesting police procedural with just the right amount of character back story etc. I was a little annoyed that I
... moresaw some of the "whodunit" answers coming half way through, but there were always a few details left to figure out. Will read this author again. less
