A review of “William Bee’s Wonderful World of Trains and Boats and Planes”

Hardback £12.99 Pavilion Books

William Bee’s Wonderful World of Trains and Boats and Planes  by Pavilion Books is a glorious celebration of amazing vehicles, visual delights and vibrant language that will entertain youngsters and grown-ups alike.

Each double spread is a treat to take in:  a lively commentary from William Bee, accompanied by graphics with a retro feel. It feels like a manual, but one which ignites a child’s imagination with a delightfully vibrant text. With bold colours and plenty of technical details in the illustrations for young readers to find (including the cheeky traffic cones getting up to mischief – along with Sparky the dog) this is a fun and stimulating book to share. Endless conversations will come out of reading this book!

As a parent, I particularly like the adventurous and stimulating vocabulary. The book treats the child respectfully as a potential expert, which young vehicle enthusiasts will relish.  My 15 year old would have adored this when he was about 3 or 4: It’s so much fun!

Early Years and KS1 teachers will  love this as much as the kids. Following on from the success of William Bee’s Wonderful World of Trucks, this is a fine follow-up, and hopefully just the start of more to come!
