Addicted to You (Krista Ritchie & Becca Ritchie)

2017 NEW ADULT READING CHALLENGE | BOOK Out of your COMFORT zone

She’s addicted to sex. He’s addicted to booze…the only way out is rock bottom.

No one would suspect shy Lily Calloway’s biggest secret. While everyone is dancing at college bars, Lily stays in the bathroom. To get laid. Her compulsion leads her to one-night stands, steamy hookups and events she shamefully regrets. The only person who knows her secret happens to have one of his own.

Loren Hale’s best friend is his bottle of bourbon. Lily comes at a close second. For three years, they’ve pretended to be in a real relationship, hiding their addictions from their families. They’ve mastered the art of concealing flasks and random guys that filter in and out of their apartment.

But as they sink beneath the weight of their addictions, they cling harder to their destructive relationship and wonder if a life together, for real, is better than a lie. Strangers and family begin to infiltrate their guarded lives, and with new challenges, they realize they may not just be addicted to alcohol and sex.

Their real vice may be each other.

I’ve had Addicted to You on my Kindle/Audible for ages, but I always put off reading it for some reason, but I finally did it, and I’m sort of glad I did on one hand, and beating myself up for not reading it sooner on the other. Because I absolutely loved this book, but this was definitly not an easy read, as the subject itself is hard for me.

This was my first book by Krista and Becca Ritchie, and I loved loved loved the writing. The book is told only through Lily’s POV and it’s so raw. When I started this one, I was sort of scared about how explicit is was going to be, because the narrator is a sex addict, and I was afraid that it would become old pretty fast. But the authors did an amazing job here, because the book is raw and emotional and gritty, without it being over explicit. Super well done.

Flawed characters are the best ones, and Lily and Lo are as flawed as they come. I loved reading about their struggles, with their feelings, relationships and addictions, even when they were self destructing. There are so many layers to these characters and they’re so well constructed, I just want to learn more about them. The same goes for Connor, Ryke and Rose. They have so much more to give and I have so much more to explore about them, and I love the possibilities.

I also really liked the plot and the pace. Honestly, I loved everything about this book, even the massive heartbreak. I’ll definitly keep reading this series because I just want more of all these amazing characters and writing.

Now, I have to say that this book can be sort of triggering, I guess. It’s a disturbing subject and outside most people’s comfort zone. Addiction is a heavy subject on itself, and it’s not an easy subject to take on. While I never battled with addiction myself, I grew up close to it, and it certainly got me in a weird mood and brought on all sort of memories and feelings.

For me though, it was one of the best books I read this year, so far. And I want people to read it! HAve you read this one? What are your feelings on it? Advertisements Rate this:Share this:
