Balmy is the theme to Start the New Year

So I had a 60° day on Sunday. SIXTY in mid January! Holy heat waves, Batman that doesn’t happen often. Saturday was 59 at my house. Both of those were records and many locations in the Metro Area experienced daily record highs. We even had a record high earlier last week. I have only recorded 3 January days dating back to 2002 with a mark of 60° or more degrees. Yesterday was on such occasion. Had a 61 back in 2005 and a 62.2 back in 2015. This latest 60 was barely over at 60.2° but it was the earliest January sixty mark I have yet recorded. Yes cruising the roadster top down in the sunshine in January is pretty cool. Now it’s time for this pretend Spring to step aside and let old man winter do, what he does. Snow, Rain, Sleet. We need some snow pack up in the high Cascades.

The National Weather Service in Portland seems to think we will return to a more normal pattern this week with showers and highs in the 40s lows in the 30s. The chances for any additional snow dramatically shrink after Valentines Day. What do you think, are we done with fluffy white precipitation or is the cranky old wizard planning to hit us hard in February?
