Beautiful Creatures (Caster Chronicles #1) by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl

Lena Duchannes is unlike anyone the small Southern town of Gatlin has ever seen, and she’s struggling to conceal her power, and a curse that has haunted her family for generations. But even within the overgrown gardens, murky swamps and crumbling graveyards of the forgotten South, a secret cannot stay hidden forever.

Ethan Wate, who has been counting the months until he can escape from Gatlin, is haunted by dreams of a beautiful girl he has never met. When Lena moves into the town’s oldest and most infamous plantation, Ethan is inexplicably drawn to her and determined to uncover the connection between them.

In a town with no surprises, one secret could change everything.

Review

This book was exhilarating, intense, and just amazing all around. It made me smile and it appalled me. It also made me remember how much I really liked supernatural romance books!

The story was told in a guy’s point of view, which surprised me because I actually really liked it!

Ethan Wate, who has been having surprisingly realistic dreams, or worse, more like nightmares since the accident with his mom. Nothing ever changes in Gatlin, but weird things are happening all around him and there is a new person in town, Lena Duchannes, who is not like other people in the small community. There is something about her that is intriguing but also frightening at the same time.

Who is this mysterious girl, what is happening, and as the days pass, how much time do they really have?

This is the kind of book where you just have to shut it for a second and take a breather. There was so much suspense in this book and I always had goosebumps as I was reading it.
