Archangel’s Kiss is the second book in Nalini Singh’s Guild Hunter series. There are currently 9 books in the series with a 10th, Archangel’s Viper, due to be released in September 2017.
Nalini Singh also writes another series known as the Psy/Changeling series which I have not read.
This is going to be a fairly short review because I just didn’t enjoy the book at all. I found it incredibly difficult to read because I hate both main characters.
Elena is annoying and whiny. All she seems to care about is having sex with Raphael even though she’s meant to be a badass, independent hunter. I don’t care for her character at all. Raphael, her lover, is even worse. I genuinely hate his character. He’s domineering, arrogant, selfish, abusive, and just plain awful. However, all of this is forgiven by Elena because of how handsome and otherworldly he is. I just want to punch him in the face.
This book, much like the first book, lacked a decent plot. I can’t even remember the plot in great detail because I found it so boring. I just wish that there was more plot and less awful sex scenes.
I think that the only thing I liked was the actual writing style. Nalini Singh is very good at writing description and world-building. I enjoyed her style but the plot left a lot to be desired.
I’m currently in possession of the 3rd and 4th books in the series, Archangel’s Consort and Archangel’s Blade, and I will be reading them because they belong to my best friend and I promised that I’d read them. I really hope that the next books have some semblance of a plot because I can’t deal with another book like this.
