review 1: If I could give more stars, I would. This has got to be one of the most romantic books I have read. I don't know the author would feel about that, but this truly was a love story for me ... and the chemistry between Lucian and Evelyn was off the charts!"However she had imagined love, it was not this. This was not something soft and delicate, tied up in flowers and bows. This was wild and honest, durable and true. He loved her, and when his feelings poured out of him like this, it was so potent there was no denying they were real."Beautiful writing, beautiful story.
review 2: 3.5 stars. Pretty solid read. Didn't like it as much as the first but it was a good follow up. We start this book where book one left off. Scout is living with Lucian in his penthouse and c... moreontinuing to adjust to life off the streets. However, Lucian's deal with the devil is hot on his heals. He needs to prepare himself to let scout go for one month and cut all ties during that time. How can he do that when he feels such an unavoidable protectiveness over her? But his word is his word, so he must let her go. There was a big part of me that didn't get it. I also didn't really buy into the story or the angst all this drama caused. I felt annoyed with the decisions Lucian made concerning Scout. However, there was another part of me that felt so sad for Lucian. Scout is still tough as nails and my heart really hurt for her during this book. There is so much she doesn't understand and so many situations out of her control. Her life is full of manipulations that she can't see and her trust is being tested. This book does end on one heck of a cliffhanger and I'm excited to find out how this plays out. I'm also looking forward to some big time groveling on Lucien's part. ;) less
