Review:

I was hesitant about this book because I seem to have a love-hate relationship with Cary Phillips, and this was the book that I was most excited for, I have a love for rockstar romances in New Adult books. I was unsure where I was going to fall with this book so I put off reading it for about a week, but I’m glad that I ended up enjoying this book. Even though I did enjoy this book I still have some issues with it, but luckily they weren’t too substantial that they ruined the book for me.

Something that I found in this series is that it’s rare for me to like both of the main characters, usually I just like one of the characters and the other seems to get on my nerves in some way. I’m happy to say that I liked both Grey and Avery, there were both wonderful characters to read about, and their experiences were both interesting. I found that Avery was a very relatable character to read about, she also very realistic which I feel is what made her relatable. Grey was a character who I just adored, even though he made mistakes when he was younger, not only does he acknowledged it, but he also regrets how he treated others such as his mother and step-father.

Avery’s father annoys me so much, my dislike for him has progressed throughout the series, there was one point in book one when I had some hope for him (when he encouraged Ian to give his half-siblings a chance), it seemed like he did care about his other children as well. This is not shown much in the other books, we see the negative impact his actions had on each of his children. In this book it’s really shown how blind he is to his other children, I’m glad that at least one of his children had the courage to stand up to him. At the end, it’s shown that her relationship with him has improved some and that he’s making an effort to be apart of her life by wanting to get to know Grey better. I’m hoping that there is a chance that this could lead to a better relationship with the rest of his children as well I don’t think that he deliberately acted that way, I just think that it took someone pointing it out and yelling at him to see it, I’ll have to wait and see how this develops in the next book.

Really the only issue that I had with this book was that the ending felt a little incomplete and happened abruptly. I wish the ending was fleshed out more, I wish the topic of how Simon was acting was more present, I wanted to know why he was trying to sabotage Grey’s relationship with Avery, what did he stand to gain from it, did he think that it would stop the band from breaking up? Overall this was a pretty good addition to this book and definitely fell on the love side of my love-hate relationship with Carly Phillips. There is only more book in the series, and I’m hoping to get to it sometime soon.
