THE VENOM CONNECTION part 2 of 2
This issue opens the way the previous issue ended, with the shock reveal that it was Rex Tyler’s initial notes on the creation of Miraclo that were stolen and eventually used to created Venom. This reveal, which had never been hinted at before, makes perfect sense feels like something that should have been suggested long before this. Kudos to Tony Bedard for this particular plot twist.
There are more twists involved, concerning Bane’s motivations. Soon, Bane has kidnapped Rex and taken him back to Bane’s home country, the isle of Santa Prisca, where Bane has Rex locked in a cell in Peno Duro, the now-abandoned prison in which Bane was raised. And he dares Rick to come after them, but without alerting the JSA or else Bane will kills Rex.
Now I really can’t say much more without spoiling it. I’ll just say that there is a lot of dramatic action, as Rick races to get to his father in time. And then in that dark prison, Rick must not only confront Bane, but also confront his own morality, as it appears that the only way to save his father is to sacrifice his own life.
A really suspenseful issue, with a most satisfying ending, all beautifully drawn by Scott McDaniel. These two issue are absolutely worth checking out!
