My Review: This was my second Augusten Burroughs book of 2016 and I have to say I really enjoyed it. I honestly feel like I can call Augusten my friend because he is super open about his life. When reading this book I felt like I was having a really long conversation with him and as he would tell the story I would start to picture everything and was dying for more. I was a little upset there weren’t any pictures in this book because I would love to see what all the people he talked about looked like.
So this book is about the time in Augusten’s life where he tries to get sober. I have to say this book is an emotional roller coaster. The whole time I was rooting for him. I wanted to be at those AA meetings telling him how proud I was and just be there for him when things started to get tough. I have to say it was tough to read but I believe that’s what shows this book is the real deal and isn’t sugar coated.
I really do hope one day I am given the chance to meet Augusten. He lives such an interesting life. I know in 2017 I will be reading more of his books. I am a little upset because he wrote a new book this year right when I read his first one. If I had read his books sooner I really would have loved to go to one of his book signings if he did one near me.
I really can’t wait to read about the next chapter in his life.
