CAPTIVE by Allan Hall & FINDING ME by Michelle Knight

Today, I want to introduce these 2 good books that I find it shocking after reading them. Both of them are related. Although the title and author are different but the story are the same.

“CAPTIVE”, Allan Hall uses external source like interviews with witness, psychologists, family, friends and the police to reveals one of the shocking cases of abuse in this modern times. (If you have not seen any news, articles and newspapers on this cases 4 years ago in US, you might want to read this book. If you have read the news before, you might find it repeated from the news you have seen).

“FINDING ME – A Decade of Darkness, A Life Reclaimed – A Memoir of the Cleveland Kidnappings” by Michelle Knight is more completed and very details of how it actually happens as she is one of the victim (Recommended).

(You can read more details from Goodread.com – Captive By Allan Hall and Finding Me by Michelle Knight)

You can find these 2 books from National Library (Singapore). Or you can get the ebooks online for free. For me, I borrowed from NLB (Singapore)

A simple introduction of this shocking and unbelieveable real-life story of these 3 women being raped, kidnapped and held captive by Ariel Castro in his Cleveland house for 10 years. The 3 women were kidnapped separately in different years after accepting a ride from Castro. He drove each to his home, lured them into his house, took them to the basement, and restrained them. The women were eventually kept in locked bedrooms upstairs and forced to use plastic toilets that were “emptied infrequently”. They were fed one meal a day, and allowed to shower at most twice a week.

The pictures of before and after they kidnapped by Ariel Castro. They were as young as 14 years old when they were kidnapped.

Michelle Knight (age 21 years old) was the 1st who kidnapped by Castro on 2002, followed by Amanda Berry (age 17 years old) in 2003 and Gina DeJesus (age 14 years old) in 2004. They were finally saved in 6 May 2013 after more than 10 years of captive in the house, abused and tortured. All thanks to Amanda Berry’s 6 years old daughter (Joycelyn), who was also Ariel Castro’s daughter who adores her a lot, saved them all. What??!! Yes, Ariel Castro raped Berry for 10 years and eventually she was pregnant and gave birth to Joycelyn in that house! Unbelievable! What a hell the 3 women were living in!

This was Ariel Castro, the Kidnapper who lived and captives the 3 women for 10 years in the above house @ Cleveland  in US. Ariel Castro was sentenced to life + 1,000 years in prison without the possibility of parole. But one month into his sentence, he hang himself with bedsheets in his prison cells. The Cleveland house was demolished on 7 Aug 2013

After reading the story, I realised that life is so unexpected and you will not know what will happen to you the next moment. And sometimes, something or someone will step into your life and started to change your whole life and ruin you forever…

Whenever I see people complaining that their life is hard and miserable, they are not satisfied on what they have, they find life meaningless or boring. Do they think of how many unfortunate people out there whose life is hundred and thousands times more miserable and still struggling to get out from the hell and yet they didn’t give up hope, they pray hard and wait for miracle to happen to save them. Thus we all should consider ourselves lucky and blessing. We should appreciate the things we have, cherish our life and live to the fullest. Don’t you agree?

If you have read the above story, do let me know how you feel after reading it. Thank you for dropping by.
