Plot:
Sarah is doing just fine. Sure she’s been single for the last five years, and has to spend an uncomfortable amount of time around her ex-boyfriend, his perfect new girlfriend and all their mutual friends. And yes, her job as a PA to one of the most disgusting men in London is mind-numbingly tedious and her career is a constant disappointment to her mother. But it’s really okay. She’s happy (ish).
But it’s not surprising that when Sarah starts dreaming about a handsome stranger, she begins to look forward to falling asleep every night. Reality isn’t nearly as exciting. That is until her dream-stranger makes an unexpected real-life appearance, leaving Sarah questioning everything she thought she wanted.
Because no one ever really finds the person of their dreams… do they?
My thoughts:
This was a really fun and entertaining book to read. I enjoyed it from the get-go and pretty much all the way through. It was definitely a feel-good book that had me laughing out loud several times. As any chick-lit books, it did have some moments where you wanted to cover your eyes in embarrassment.
Sarah was a lovely character and I could definitely relate to her and her struggles with adulting. I loved to see her grow throughout this book and get more comfortable with herself and start to challenge herself in love and life. It was fun to see her relationships with her friends and seeing the romance play out and develop.
I will say that I was a bit worried in the beginning when Sarah was irrationally mad at the new perfect girlfriend of her ex-boyfriend. Sure, having a seven-year-long relationship end because the man you believed was your soulmate must be extremely heartbreaking, especially if he immediately moves on to another girl that appears perfect. In this instance, I’d rather see the blame go to the man, who cheated and couldn’t be honest with his partner, instead of the woman that is perceived as the reason for the relationship falling apart.
Do I recommend it?
Yes, I do.
