‘Magic & Fire burn…
The Serenity of the Land of Faerie is threatened as the Unseelie Queen Aveta rages war against the three remaining Seelie Realms of Faerie. As Shade’s powers grow, she finds she is running out of time to keep the war from spilling into the human world. Winter is growing in strength as the evil Qeen’s horrifying legions scar the land in their frigid wake. No one is safe. Shade becomes enemy number one for the Unseelie legions. Questioning her true role of power, Shade discovers the cost of winning may come at a much higher price than she ever imagined.’
Ever Fire is the second book to the A Dark Faerie Tale series by Alexia Purdy. This series is a Young Adult Fantasy/Paranormal Romace.
I like how we see old character resurfacing in Ever Fire, and I like how there are new characters introduced to new characters in Ever Fire.
However, there are some parts throughout the book that felt choppy and forced. Some characters felt completely different as to how they were in Ever Shade. Like, they don’t act like themselves. They’re a totally different person.
I want to say that Shade has new character developments, but I’m not going to, because I didn’t see anything change within Shade. Save for the fact that she now has more powers. One thing that bothers me about Shade is that she still thinks the best of everyone around her. I want to say that’s a nice characteristic for people to have. In Shade’s circumstance though, she could deal with being a little wary of newcomers.
Ever Fire ends on a cliffhanger just like Ever Shade does. I’m not all too happy about that, but the cliffhanger just means that I’m looking forward to the next book. I hope that whenever I get around to reading Ever Winter, that it doesn’t feel forced as much as Ever Fire did..
I ended up giving Ever Fire, 2 of 5 stars on Goodreads.
Happy Reading!
