Fever Series: BloodFever by Karen Marie Moning

Heeellloooo my Bookinators! Welcome back to my blog!

Today, I decided to be more original and at the same time, unique with this review. I currently finished the second book of the Fever series, Bloodfever, and it was… was… EPIC. I felt like it was pulling me in and it just wouldn’t let me go until I finished the goddamn book! Thats how exhilarating it was! I finally took a breather and eventually went to request the next four books of the series before we all got back into the back-to-school trend.

If you don’t know the characters, I will once again provide the link down the below for a well detailed summary of them and their background. The main ones are MacKayla Lane . Jericho Barrons. And I’ll count V’lane this time.

Character’s descriptions

But, for now, let’s get into this book. Keep in mind, if you wondered across my blog and your interested in reading this, well, bud, this is the second book. You gotta go way backkkk. Back to the beginning. I’ll attach the first book’s review on here for you. It’ll be down below. Just keep reading.

Book Synopsis:

I used to think my sister and I were just two nice southern girls who’d get married in a few years and settle down to a quiet life. Then I discovered that Alina and I descend, not from good wholesome southern stock, but from an ancient Celtic bloodline of powerful sidhe-seers, people who can see the Fae. Not only can I see the terrifying otherworldly race, but I can sense the sacred Fae relics that hold the deadliest of their magic.

When my sister was found dead in a trash-filled alley in Dublin, I came over to get answers. Now all I want is revenge. And after everything I’ve learned about myself, I know I have the power to get it….

MacKayla Lane’s ordinary life underwent a complete makeover when she landed on Ireland’s shores and was plunged into a world of deadly sorcery and ancient secrets.

In her fight to stay alive, Mac must find the Sinsar Dubh–a million-year-old book of the blackest magic imaginable, which holds the key to power over both the worlds of the Fae and of Man. Pursued by Fae assassins, surrounded by mysterious figures she knows she cannot trust, Mac finds herself torn between two deadly and irresistible men: V’lane, the insatiable Fae who can turn sensual arousal into an obsession for any woman, and the ever-inscrutable Jericho Barrons, a man as alluring as he is mysterious.

For centuries the shadowy realm of the Fae has coexisted with that of humans. Now the walls between the two are coming down, and Mac is the only thing that stands between them.…

Alrighttyyy. If anything is more steaming then this, you guys better tell me. I have had so many favorite parts that I just can’t breathe! Okay, I’m exaggerating. This book is so mysterious it unlocks doors in my mind. I am so excited and I am tempted to give spoilers but then… that wouldn’t be as equally fun. MWAHAHA! Yeah I sound drunk or something.

So let’s begin. I already told you how great this book was, but this got into a lot of mystery which made it equally more intriguing and at the same time’ WOWZA BITCH’.

It obviously started with Alina’s murder, then it went into Mac finding out who she really is and find the Sinsar Dubh. (YES, HARD TO PRONOUNCE, I KNOW.)  In this world, that artifact is so important, it’s up for grabs. Now the second book goes into more detail about her journey and the sudden realization that she really doesn’t know much about the man who saved her life, gave her a place to stay, uses her to find objects of power, aka OOP, and how he can miraculously walk without the Shades trying to kill him. And you’ve guessed it. It’s that mysterious man who taught her how to survive, Jericho Barrons.

Her whole life she thought trust was built on her relationship with her sister, Alina. That’s Sisterhood. That’s what it meant to her. However,  Mac is growing into the role of accepting responsibility and surviving. See the key word? Without Jericho, Mac really would’ve ended up like Alina. Alina came searching for something in Ireland and she dropped her studies which says, ‘its that damn important’. I wish that could happen to me. Escape school to go on quests…

Yeah, wake up, people. Unless the world is ending, then that’s my way of surviving. Now, back to the book. Mac knows normal doesn’t fit her league anymore. She sticks with Jericho. Abides by his rules. And even though she sometimes resists them, she also ends up half dead and is forced to eat Unseelie to regain some energy, power, and all the good stuff her body needs. Yuck!

In her world, Mac doesn’t trust anyone. She knows who killed Alina. She wants vengeance for her, but with that, comes a bigger price. She runs into an old woman who recognized her as the last of her bloodline and basically she runs this cult..? Okay, that’s not the word. Let’s say…club. Yep, much better. She encounters new people and she gathers information about her bloodline. It’s a pretty brief discussion since the aim is to discuss how to defeat the Lord Master.

Things do get heated with Mac and Jericho. There are thoughts ever girl has. He’s cute, how many girls has he dated? Wonder what he’s like in bed. Does he have abs? Is the dude rich? Frankly, He’s a hot sexy hunk of Barrons and totally rich, and Jericho is more mysterious than anyone I’ve ever read about. I find his character beyond intriguing and I kind of hoped Mac would just unlock something and figure out exactly what he is because apparently…. only her species is… FEMALE. SO WHAT THE FLIPPIN HELL IS JERICHO?

The tension definitely rises between the two of them, and V’lane, prince with powers of endless, lethal, lust, is in the midst of it all. I know what your thinking. Team Jericho or Team V’lane. (Tell me in the comments whose side your on) With how tempting V’lane seems, so far I hate him, because he works only for his Queen. He gives Mac pleasure, and saves her when Barrons couldn’t. That alone, gave him some points, but he always says something to make me want to throw him to the curb of Fae world. Mentioning. His. Goddamn. Queen.

As far as this review goes, this was all pros. I kind of like how I started my other posts with the pros and cons. I might resume that.

Now, for the book, I can honestly tell you there are many surprises. Old enemies start to come back to life. And this war between the humans and the Fae will keep growing unless MacKayla uses her little noggin and decides whose side she’s on. Unfortunately, MacKayla has made it pretty clear in the book that she trusts no one and that she’s just bouncin’ off walls or that’s what it seems to me. I feel she wasn’t being discreet about her decisions and it will probably backfire on her so bad that she’s gonna be clutching her ass all the way to Alaska. Literally and figuratively.

Kiss my potato ass

This book definitely made my passion for all things paranormal grow and this was another great book. WAYTAGO KAREN! Can you imagine how long it takes to write a good book? This definitely had all her sweat and tears written. Making us all proud again.
